Just my 2 cents worth

Marine Nationale Richelieu

1/700 Trumpeter

The Kit...

A long time member of the Trumpeter lineup, this kit is kinda the ugly duckling. Not as prominent as it's allied counterparts, it tends to be of less interest to casual modelers who's first instinct is to reach for the Bismark, Yamato or Missouri.

The hull is split at the water line with the usual lower hull and base plate molded in maroon. The upper hull, molded in gray has fairleads molded on top and the portholes molded into the side.

The build...

As usual, drill the hull and base for the pedestals, then epoxy the nuts to the inside of the underwater hull.
After adding the rudder and prop shafts, it's given a coat of red bottom paint and attached to the base.
Since the ship was refurbished in New York I'm using USN colors, and I'm guessing as to which ones. The upper hull is Painted first in Scalecolor P-5 Pale Gray to be followed with 5-D Dark Gray patches. The forward part of the deck is #20 deck gray.

The upper hull on the kit I have is warped a bit but it attached to the lower hull with a minimal amount of aggravation followed by the wood deck.

Final Thoughts...

Except for the warped upper hull, the kit goes together very well.

The details are decent for a ship of this scale

The paint job was a little tricky but worth the effort, and the Chuanyu deck fit perfectly

My two cents worth
